Why My Husband Is Perfect For Me [Part 2]

When I look back at the time that Bill and I had to get to know each other again, for real this time, I always remembering it feeling like an eternity. From our first re-date to our first alone date, it felt like ages, when in reality it was less than two weeks.

My favourite part about the entire thing was that we hadn't told Ethan, so on the day we had next planned to meet (Feb 14th, of course) we talked about how fun it would be to have Ethan come over and find out. By that time Bill and I had talked about a plethora of things (primarily because I sent him a MILLION questions) and there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to be with him. Thus my fears of backpacking off of my family's feelings were abated and I trusted my feelings were my own. In the end I convinced Ethan to come over in my most clever way ever... via text...
Tia: Have any fun plans for Valentine's day?
Ethan: Not really
Tia: Well hopefully you get to do something fun :)
Ethan: Yeah! What about you? :)
Tia: I've got a date :P
Ethan: Yeah? What's their name? :)
Tia: Postullio McSchukerlums
Ethan: Hahaha what's their name? :)
Tia: Uhm... let me double check
Ethan: Haha Okay! :)
Tia: Hmm... I really should add people's names to my phone.
Ethan: Haha so where did you meet?
Tia: Through a friend
Ethan: Yeah? That's cool! :)
(Interlude of a few days, because sneaky is sneaky)
Tia: Hey can you come over tonight for a few minutes? I wanted to introduce you to my date
Ethan: What time?
Tia: 6:15? You can eat with us!
Ethan: I can come over to meet him, but I don't want to interrupt your date Haha
Tia: Mmk, well you can stay for a bit if you wanted, but I'll be happy if you just get to meet him.
Ethan: Yeah? Haha okay! I'll be over at 6:15 then!
Tia: Kk!
As I mentioned in my last post, we decided to keep things between us and Ethan had no indication of us even talking to each other, so I knew there was no way for him to figure out my date was actually Bill, not Postullio. The plan was to have Ethan show up and Bill would answer the door and SURPRISE! But Bill ended up getting caught in traffic and was late, so I had to entertain Ethan for a while until Bill got there. I decided instead of Bill answering the door, Ethan would. So when Bill got there it was absolutely wonderful, he came straight in with flowers and kissed me.

Ethan's reaction was fantastic. He just stared at us and said "So how long has this been going on?" He was very excited for us. After Ethan's reaction, we were ready for the rest of everyone else.

The picture we sent to my family.
That night we decided we should make our relationship official and we posted it on Facebook and shocked everyone else. It was absolutely worth it! Everyone was very excited for us and we were equally excited, if not more. After years of discussion, a few more years of a serious lack of discussion, and some reconciliation we were finally where we had planned on being four years earlier.

I had every intention on waiting to get married for a while longer, but when it came down to discussing it with Bill, I knew there was only him. What was the point in waiting? Then one day I finally convinced him to tell me he wanted to marry me (I asked many-a questions until I was successful) and the adventure finally seriously began.

One day (Feb 28th) while I was waiting for him to get to my apartment, I decided to practice my calligraphy, writing a bunch of random sayings, getting ink ALL over my hands, and over all just trying to keep Maebh under control. He finally got in and I showed him my epic sloppy skills while chatting about random stuff. He grabbed my hand and I was like "Yeah, yeah, I got ink all over my hands" and then suddenly he slid a ring on my finger and said, "Marry me?" Of course I said "Of course!" and it was just... so magical and perfect.

Initially we had planned on October for our wedding, but as time went on, I just missed him all the time. We tried to get permission to get married sooner, but ultimately we knew we wanted to be married in the temple, so instead, with my parent's permission and the permission of their mission president to come home for a few days (since they were out of state on their own mission), we moved the date up to June.

It was the most magical day of my entire life. The blessing I had been praying for was right in front of me. I'm sure you can imagine for a moment, just how happy you would be when something you dreamed about your entire life, that you prayed for so hard, ended up right in front of you. There is nothing to describe the feeling I had that day, and I will never forget it.

Bill is my best friend, the love of my life, the greatest blessing, and the most wonderful person I've ever been blessed to know. I am eternally grateful he is mine forever and I will forever be in awe that such a wonderful man has chosen me to spend his life with.

To be continued (and concluded) in part 3.
